Extra Virgin olive Oil - with very high Polyphenols
Medjuica’s EVOO Atsas brand contains a staggering 2,217 mg/kg.
We would like to see all EVOO manufacturers list their polyphenol results, as we are doing here. Otherwise, how do you know what you’re buying? Unfortunately, big brand names in the food industry deliberately set out to deceive the consumer by not revealing their polyphenol results. Furthermore, the industry is rife with corruption. A quick Google search of’ ‘olive oil and fraud‘ shows just how prevalent it is.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) has been consumed for 6,000 years and is renowned for its numerous health benefits. But did you know that it’s the Polyphenols in EVOO that is the magic elixir; they’re the secret of its powerful properties. The Oleocanthal, Oleacein, Oleuropein, Ligstroside, Tyrosol, Hydrotyrosol all help fight an over-production of Free Radicals which cause cellular damage. However, some well-known brands have been adulterated and contain little or no polyphenols. Consumers are buying EVOO in the belief that this is a component of the Mediterranean diet, when in fact some olive oils are classified as ‘Lampante’ – lamp oil.
The highly regarded Consumer Labs, recently carried out analyses of leading USA brands of EVOO. Their organic ‘top pick’ from a comprehensive list had only 299 mg/kg polyphenols.
The EU issued a health claim for EVOO.
“Olive oil polyphenols contribute to the protection of blood lipids from oxidative stress. The claim may be used only for olive oil containing at least 5 mg of hydroxytyrosol and its derivatives per 20 g of olive oil.
The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 20 g of olive oil.
(Commission Regulation (EU) 432/2012).”
With our EVOO 10ml bottle you’re getting five times the EU directive with half the amount they specify and over twenty-five times that of well known brands. But you’re not told the polyphenol contents of most oils because some are so low you’re wasting money buying them.
Your daily shot delivers a high dose of polyphenols but without the enormous calories.
We oil our car engines, our body’s engine needs oiling too!
EVOO is a natural painkiller! Ibuprofen works by inhibiting the action of cyclooxygenase enzymes, COX-1 and COX-2, which are involved in inflammation pathways. It was discovered that, like ibuprofen, the oleoncanthal present in EVOO had COX-inhibiting activity.
Whatever brand you opt to buy, be sure to buy ORGANIC Evoo.
PLEASE NOTE: THESE 10ml EVOO BOTTLES ARE ONLY AVAILABLE TO BUY IN BOXES OF 15. They are a limited edition and only available for a few months in the year.

How and when to eat
– Knock it back – it might sting the back of the throat slightly, that’s the kick from the oleocanthal polyphenols. Some studies suggest taking it first thing in the morning and not eating for half an hour while it gets to work promoting healthy gut bacteria.
– Take 5ml over two days and you will still exceed the EU criteria for minimum polyphenols in EVOO to be beneficial to health*
The European Union Health Claim Labelling Regulation 432-2012 states that olive oils with polyphenols of 250 mg/kg or more can claim:
Olive oil polyphenols contribute to the protection of blood lipids from oxidative stress. In order to bear the claim, information shall be given to the consumer that the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 20 g of olive oil.
Medjuica’s EVOO at harvest contained 2,411 mg/kg
– Mix it with balsamic vinegar or lemon juice and add it to a salad or add to half an avocado

– Add it to a stir-fry
- Take it to a restaurant and pour it over your meal!
It is NOT recommended to cook with this EVOO as the polyphenols and other plant chemicals break down when they are heated
